The
player must provide proof of age and be a resident of Alberta.

Wild Card Selection
Application Procedures |
|
|
a. |
Application must be made in writing to the Tennis Alberta results
committee by the athlete at least seven (7) days prior to the final
match of the indoor/outdoor season in order to be eligible for
consideration for a wild card. |
|
|
b. |
The
granting of a wild card spot will be determined by a vote of results
committee members. The committee must be in 75% agreement in order
to grant a wild card spot. |
|
|
c. |
The
Results committee will respond to all requests within 10 days of
receiving application |
|
|
|
|
|
3. |
|
Alberta Players Training out of Province |
|
|
|
In
order to qualify to represent Alberta at nationals, the player must: |
|
|
i. |
qualify on their own merit by accumulating enough points at the end
of the indoor/outdoor season |
|
|
ii. |
win
the provincials in the respective age category, (minimum 3 spots in
the age category must be available for distribution by Tennis
Alberta); should Tennis Canada award a player development spot or
Tennis Alberta award a wildcard, the provincial champion will not
receive an automatic spot for nationals; or |
|
|
iii. |
apply for a wild card from the results committee (see section 2
above); or |
|
|
iv. |
meet the Tennis Canada performance standard and receive a spot from
Tennis Canada (as per point I) |
|
|
|
|
|
4. |
|
Provincial Championships
The
provincial singles champions (male and female) in those age classes
where indoor/outdoor national championships are offered. A minimum
of 3 Alberta provincial spots must be available for distribution by
Tennis Alberta in order for the provincial champion to receive a
spot. (Note: The provincial champion will not automatically receive
1st position in Team Alberta’s order of merit submitted
for seeding considerations.) |

5. |
|
National Point Accumulation
Most points accumulated in national selection tournaments after the
2007 indoor/outdoor season (best 3 results). Based on the Alberta
national points as compiled by Tennis Alberta (see attached table).
In the event of a tie in points for the final spot(s) the following
order of breaking the tie should apply: |

B. |
head to head results in that age category over the 2007
indoor/outdoor season will be used*Î
Should the players still be tied; |
|
|
C. |
The
most recent win against the opponent will break the tie.
|
|
|
|

default by a player for whatever reason will be counted as a lost
match.

|
|
|
|
6. |
|
The
players should be aware that fulfilling the above requirements does
not guarantee a nationals spot, the final decision will be made by
the results committee |

Due to the start of the indoor/outdoor season in November all
players must play in the age category they will be required to play
as of Jan 1, 2007. |

junior indoor/outdoor provincials are open to Alberta residents.
