Did you know that we have an Alberta Sports Hall of Fame that honors athletes and sport builders for achievements and/or contributions to the sport in Alberta? Are you also aware that only one tennis player (Marjorie Eustace) has been inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame solely on the basis of tennis performance?

At Tennis Alberta we recognize the need to honor and acknowledge our tennis athletes. Many players have achieved Canadian national titles and deserve further recognition from the province. In order to attain that goal we have established the Alberta Tennis Hall of Fame.

Alberta’s tennis historian, Larry Kennard who serves as chairman of the committee started the initiative. It is an extensive project that requires volunteer time and effort, and Tennis Alberta is proud to celebrate the achievements of those who devote countless number of hours to the sport.

A selection criteria established by the committee will be used to induct individuals annually. Alberta players have been winning championships since the early days of the 1900s, so there are many considerations! ALBERTA TENNIS HALL OF FAME SELECTION CRITERIA

• All inductees must be retired from open-level competitive singles play for at least five years
• Inductees may either be players or “builders” and may be living or deceased
• Inductees qualify either through nomination and selection, or through automatic selection
• Automatic inductees must have won at least three Alberta Open singles titles
